1st Snowman and a Mini Frisbee
Beetle bought our first snow shovel a couple of nights ago. Lucky for us it snowed! Little did we know our first winter snowman would be built in our very own backyard. Beetle stayed up late shoveling our driveway and he topped it off by building a giant snowman for the kids. They were so excited when they woke up the next morning to find a snowman already built, this snowman isn't melting for a few more days!
I checked on Annabelle and Benson before I went to bed last night, it has been really weird not having all the kids down the hall from us. This is what I found. It's not every night you fall asleep with a mini frisbee in your mouth. I love this girl.

Beautiful Hair
I should be unpacking boxes and organizing our house, but instead I'm making cute pony tails, with this Beautiful Hair.
Time to unpack the hair clippers, although Orlando Bloom would be proud.

Goodbye Condo
No more condo! I have to tell you I am still not believing that we sold this place. It was such a blessing and an answer to many, many prayers. We lived in our cozy condo for almost TEN years, and with baby #5 coming, we are so grateful to be moved in to a home that will fit us-just in time!
It was a pretty crazy week last week. We have always looked forward to the day we moved but things didn't pan out the way we always pictured.
Beetle got the flu on Tuesday morning and was in bed all day and all night. Wednesday morning our Realtor called and said everything had been approved and we could close that day. I was so excited! But sad that Beetle was still in bed and still throwing up. I ran into our room and said "we are closing today at 4:00, are you excited?!". I knew something was wrong when he replied "well, today might not be very good, maybe we should wait." I thought he was going crazy, I called his parents to see what they thought we should do and they said "CLOSE! have him wear a mask!" That's the answer I wanted.
He got out of bed, and showered. It was the first time I had seen him out of bed in a couple of days. He looked awful. He looked like he did in High School when he would suck weight for wrestling. I was worried because he was so white. I called the nurse and she said he was probably dehydrated and that he should go to insta-care to get an IV of fluids. He said he would drive to insta-care, get hydrated and meet me at closing. He made it to closing just in time. He actually looked a little better, but the Dr. wanted him to go back after closing to get more fluids. Closing seemed like forever, it was two hours long because we were selling and buying. By the end of closing I could tell Beetle was not doing good, and I was really starting to feel like a crappy wife for talking him in to going. I drove him back to insta-care to get his bag of fluids. It took another hour and at the end of the hour he started throwing up again. Insta-care told us to go home and if he was still throwing up, then come back for more fluids in the morning. Beetle left feeling worse and looking worse, we drove to his parents to have his Dad and brother give him a blessing, his family took one look at him and told us to go to the Emergency room. Once we were checked in, Beetle was throwing up every three to four minutes and they couldn't stop it, even with putting anti-nausea medication pumping through his IV. As most of you know Beetle is type 1 diabetic, they tested his blood sugars and they were 560, that is pretty high. They admitted him to ICU and finally got the throwing up under control. It turns out he had DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis). The Dr. said it happens often when you get the flu because your blood sugars get too high when your sick. He wasn't taking any insulin when he was sick because he thought his blood sugars would go low, where he wasn't eating. He lost 30 pounds in three days. When he came out of insta-care, he said " I already accomplished three of my new years resolutions-- I lost 30 pounds, I bought a house, and I saved Princess Peach (wii).
Thursday was the big move. Our families and Beetles Co-workers came to our rescue. I don't know what we would have done without them. They had us moved by Thursday evening. I couldn't believe the service everyone gave and they gave it so freely, I get teary-eyed thinking about it.
Beetle was going crazy in the hospital knowing what everyone was doing for us at home. He was finally able to come home to his "new home" on Saturday afternoon. We were all SO glad to have him back. I would be in trouble without this guy, he adds so much to our family.
I forgot to mention that Beetle's little sister was birthing this sweet girl one floor below him in the same hospital on the night he was admitted.

A Breakfast conversation
Benson and I had this conversation over breakfast this morning, some conversations with this boy are just too good not to document.
Benson: "Mom, did you know that you and I and everyone, eats poo EVERY day?"
Mom: "That is not true Benson. Why do you think that?"
Benson: "Because, we eat food and then it comes out of our bodies looking like poo, SO food is poo."
Mom: I tried to give a scientific explanation about what happens when we eat our food, but it didn't sound very good. I think I did however convince him that we don't eat poo everyday.

Who needs Snow for Sledding?
Not the Smart kids!
They were all tired of waiting for snow.
While the weather is so nice, why not sled in the beautiful greenish grass with our shoes off?
Maybe January will bring snow....
